In January 2020, I travelled with my wife, Adriana Baez, to her home island of Tenerife in the Canary Islands, with the goal of crossing the interior of the island on foot.
Roughly five million people visit Tenerife each year, but not many of the tourists among them venture away from the stunning beaches and lavish hotel resorts that line them. We wanted to go beyond that and explore the lesser-seen landscapes and discover for ourselves the rich and beautiful microclimates that make Tenerife one of the most unique islands on the planet.
